Services Offered

Integrative psychiatry does not mean anti-medication. I use both standard-of-care medical treatments and science-backed complimentary approaches to promote healing and foster mental health.

My areas of focus include ADHD, trauma/PTSD, anxiety disorders, and depression/mood disorders.

  • Medication is an important part of an effective treatment plan for many patients. We will work together to find your optimal medication regimen that maximizes benefits and minimizes side effects.

  • I use methods derived from a variety of therapy modalities including Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Supportive Therapy, Transpersonal or Spiritual Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Buddhist psychology.

Don’t worry if you aren’t familiar with the terms. You can rest assured that therapy will be uniquely tailored to you meet your goals.

  • Prescription medications are not unique in their ability to impact brain functioning. I can help you utilize supplements and plant-based medicines to optimize your mental health safely and effectively using the ideal dosing and formulation for your specific needs. If your treatment plan includes both prescription medication and supplements, I will ensure there are no dangerous interactions between them.

  • Sleep, exercise, and nutrition are critical components when it comes to healing and maintaining mental health. While changing habits certainly isn’t always easy, I’m here to help guide and support you in making sustainable lifestyle change.

  • Mindfulness and meditation are incredibly effective tools in strengthening your awareness of your own mind-body connection. I can teach you how to effectively incorporate these practices into your life so you can regain a sense of control over how you respond to your thoughts and emotions, leading to insight, self-acceptance, and more stable moods.

  • There is an ever growing body of evidence supporting the clinical use of psychedelics (such as psilocybin, ketamine, MDMA, or LSD) for a variety of conditions including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, PTSD, and substance use disorders. Whether you’ve had a psychedelic experience to address a mental health condition, or for personal/spiritual growth, I can help you integrate the lessons from your experience to foster lasting positive change and psychological growth.

  • I follow World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) standard of care to perform a comprehensive psychiatric assessment prior to gender affirming surgery. We will discuss the role gender dysphoria has played in your life and your readiness for surgery. I will provide a letter of support to your surgeon, if appropriate.

The Process

  • This introductory call is a time for us to determine our level of comfort working together. It’s your time to let me know what you’re seeking care for, and what type of treatment or level of support you’re interested in. I’ll provide an overview of my approach, and answer questions you may have. If you’d like to move forward, we’ll schedule your initial consultation.

  • You’ll gain access to my patient portal and fill out forms that provide the necessary information for our initial consultation appointment. These forms ask for detailed information regarding your lifestyle, medical and psychiatric history, goals of care, and current symptoms. The information you provide is carefully reviewed prior to your initial consultation, which allows us to really hit the ground running at your first appointment.

The online patient portal also allows you to send me private, secure messages, share documents, request refills, and schedule visits.

  • We will spend either 90 or 120 minutes together at this first appointment. Most psychiatry offices only schedule 45-60 minute initial visits, however I’ve found this to be insufficient. My longer appointment times allow you ample space to tell your story and provide important details about how your life is being impacted by your symptoms. I’ll be asking you questions to help get at the root of the problem, understand you better, and screen for specific conditions. We will begin to establish goals and identify areas to intervene. You’ll leave this initial visit with an action plan tailored to your needs that may include lab work, tracking of symptoms or lifestyle factors (sleep, nutrition, exercise, etc), additional screening forms, and preliminary treatment recommendations.

  • Once any recommended lab work or imaging has been completed, I’ll spend time reviewing the results to help narrow down root causes of your symptoms. If you’ve previously worked with a psychiatrist or psychotherapist, I’ll connect with them to get the most complete history possible. Any additional screening forms sent to you following our initial visit will be reviewed as well.

  • During these appointments, we will be reviewing your progress, addressing any concerns regarding your treatment plan, and making any indicated changes. Throughout your care, we’ll be continuously working to refine your treatment plan to get you the best possible results in the shortest amount of time.

Follow up appointments may be either 25 or 50 minutes depending on your desired level of support, the complexity of your situation, and whether or not we’re doing psychotherapy together.

Follow up visits are typically scheduled every 2-4 weeks for the first few months of care, and every 1-3 months for long term patients. This may vary based on your desired level of support and severity of symptoms.
